At Disney, there are always periodic lulls where we're not drawing anything in particular and just sort of waiting for upper management to approve stuff....ironically, I still end up doodling Disney-related stuff even in those lulls. o__o Anyway, here's a quick conglomerate of some of those doodles--a couple of Thumpers, Mowgli, Captain Hook looking mighty happy with his hook, Pooh with his bum stuck in a tree, the back of a kitten from Aristocats, and Lady. Thumper was definitely the most fun to draw out of the bunch. Many of these are from that Illusion of Life book about Disney art through the ages, btw, so it's not like I'm brilliantly coming up with these on my own. It's a tragic fact that I am actually, ironically, not good at the Disney style (I'm too anime) and am trying to learn to alter my style more down the Disney path.
This is just amazing. I can see your style in little bits of things but that just seems to add to the magic of these Disney characters. The face of Mowgli almost looks something like Hayao Miyazaki would have done. It's magic.
On a side note, What kind of paper did you use? What did you use to draw this?
